Also known as Rasayana. It is a full body massage with medicated herbal oils in which all the tissues are nourished and enhanced. This therapy relaxes and rejuvenates the whole body. An ayurvedic physician will decide the appropriate oil and exact movement of massage. The medicines carry properties to prevent the effect of ageing, to improve memory, intelligence, sensory, prevent psychological disorders, etc.
Also known as Nasya Karma or Navana. It means procedure where the medicated drugs or oils are administered through the nostris. This therapy is very effective to cure many head related diseases. There are types of Nasya. Early greying of the hair and proper and healthy growth of the hair is ensured with this therapy. It also enhances the performance of the sense organs and have been found useful to treat chronic sinusitis.
Means Kaya seka or Sarvanga shara or Ayurvedic oil bath, wherein a few therapists pour lukewarm medicated oil along their thumb from oil soaked cloth. Simultaneously a soft massage is also given. The oil is poured in a systematic rhythmic manner covering the whole body. This relaxes the body, improves blood circulation, and improves skin tone. It is extremely effective for rheumatic conditions, neurological disorders, sexual weakness,etc.
Also known as Dhara means continuous flow, Sira means forehead. A pot with a small hole and a cloth extending through the hole is filled with warm medicated oil or milk or buttermilk is hung over the forehead. The liquid flows in a rhythmic way over the forehead for the required period of time. This therapy is highly effective for chronic depression, emotional problems, loss of memory, insomnia, anxiety, premature greying of hair, headache, etc.
Means Moordha taila or Oiling of the head massage is a stress treatment. The therapy is a gentle and soothing massage with warm herbal oil over head, neck, face and shoulders, the areas most vulnerable to stress and tension. It is helpful for treating insomnia, headaches, migraine, depression, anxiety, sinus issues, cooling to the eyes, etc. Dandruff, premature greying of hair, hair loss is also treated with this therapy.
Mukham means face and Lepam means application of a paste. It is ayurvedic skin care therapy. After assessing the skin type, based on the requirement different herbal powders and fresh cream is prepared into a paste. The freshly prepared paste is then applied on the face and massaged smoothly. This prevents wrinkles, improves skin tone, avoids pigmentation, etc. It is also good for eyes and beneficial in treating sun burn related conditions.
Combination of herbs are applied to the body, a simple massage is given followed by a special bath using herbal decoction. This herbal body treatment which was prevalent in ancient Kerala to maintain the radiant and vibrant beauty of women. This beauty therapy exfoliates dead skins and gives soft and fragrant skin.
Pada means foot and abhyanga means massage. The feet is soaked, scrubbed and cleaned with warm herbal oil and herbal creams. After massaging, herbal paste is applied and wrapped, this gives healthy glow to the skin. Feet has many nerve endings and hence a routine foot massage revitalizes and relaxes the nervous system, calms the mind, maintains eyesight and hearing, etc. It is also helpful for cramps, numbness, cracks on feet, etc.
It is the main sudation process using ela (leaves) and kizhi (bolus/bundle) practiced by Ayurvedic Physicians. Effective for ailments relating to bones, joint, nervous system, stress, etc. After prepping, the bundles of medicinal leaves & herbs dipped in warm medica ted oil and thorough massage is given over different parts of the body. The process also helps in relieving stress, blood circulation, improves the skin tone, increases muscle strength, etc.
Also known as Choorna Sweda or Swedana Chikitsa. Mix of herbs and medicinal powder is tied in a muslin cloth, warmed and then used for fomentation. The boluses are heated frequently and massaged in a rhythmic way over the whole body or a specific part of the body and made it to sweat. This therapy is effective for certain neurological conditions, to treat overweight & obesity, increases blood circulation, relaxes the body, etc.
